Description

Less than 30 % of all 25 million tonnes of plastic waste generated by Europeans each year is recycled. Chemical recycling may help reverse this trend. It is seen as one of the most promising technologies to convert plastic waste to high value products. The EU-funded REPLAXTIC EF-SE project will transform polycarbonate plastic waste into added value electrolytes that can be used to power sustainable lithium-ion batteries. It will develop a first class of liquid electrolyte that can be further polymerised. Also, by combining chemistry expertise with entrepreneurship, this project will equip the fellow with unique skills and increase his attractiveness in the European job market.
